Sales and Marketing Manager - Virginia Association of REALTORS
Prior to my employment, the Virginia Association of REALTORS had never before had a non-dues revenue sales program. I was asked to develop, market, and sell a sponsorship, ad, and exhibitor sales program to businesses trying to reach the REALTOR community. Working to supplement the dues revenue received directly from REALTORS, VAR was interested in tapping into a large market of businesses trying to find an avenue into the tightly knit REALTOR association. Using the needs of the program and events happening throughout VAR, I developed a Sponsorship Opportunity booklet and marketing program that was disseminated within a database of companies known to work with REALTORS. Using the targeted and segmented database developed during my research, I was able to solicit new sponsors, advertisers, and exhibitors through “warm calling”, direct mail, email, and face-to-face meetings. The program was extremely successful, drawing in $60,000 in non-dues revenue its first year.
In this position, I also managed the exhibitor portion of the VAR Yearly Tradeshow for REALTORS. I was a full customer service entity for the 60+ exhibitors and sponsors at the show (3 day event). I also attended many local REALTOR association tradeshows, exhibiting VAR’s professional services and benefits to local REALTOR groups.
